The New Gate (Arabic: باب الجديدBāb ij-Jdïd) (Hebrew: השער החדשHaSha'ar HeChadash) is the newest gate in the walls that surround the Old City of Jerusalem. It was built in 1889 to provide direct access between the Christian Quarter and the new neighborhoods then going up outside the walls. The arched gate is decorated with crenelated stonework.
