São José do Rio Pardo is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The population is 54,388 (2015 est.) in an area of 419 km². The elevation is 676 m. It was founded by Colonel Antônio Marçal Nogueira de Barros in 1870. In the same year, a chapel to Saint Joseph was built. It became a municipality in 1885, when it was separated from Casa Branca.
