The Medical College of Georgia (often referred to as MCG) is the oldest and founding school of Georgia Regents University and the only public medical school in the U.S. state of Georgia. Established in 1828 as the Medical Academy of Georgia, MCG is one of the nation's oldest medical schools. With 22 departments, it offers both a Doctor of Medicine (MD) as well as an MD-PhD degree, in conjunction with the University System of Georgia.
