North Georgia College and State University was a four-year university located in Dahlonega, Georgia. Founded as North Georgia Agricultural College in 1873, it was the second oldest public institution of higher education in the state until its consolidation, the first being the University of Georgia. The university was renowned for its ROTC program, and was designated as The Military College of Georgia. It was also designated by the University System of Georgia as a state leadership institution.
