Altaysky District (Russian: Алта́йский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the fifty-nine in Altai Krai, Russia. It is located in the southeast of the krai. The area of the district is 3,400 square kilometers (1,300 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Altayskoye. Population: 25,645 (2010 Census); 26,984 (2002 Census); 26,287 (1989 Census). The population of Altayskoye accounts for 53.5% of the district's total population.
