The 1995 Colima–Jalisco earthquake occurred with a moment magnitude of 8.0 on October 9 at 15:35 UTC, off the coast of Jalisco, Mexico. At least 49 people died and 100 were injured. A tsunami was triggered, which affected a 200 kilometers (120 mi) stretch of the coast. The Cihuatlan-Manzanillo area, Colima, was more severely affected than other areas. The earthquake could be felt in Mexico City and in high-rise buildings in Dallas and Houston.
