The State of Mexico (Spanish: Estado de México, pronounced: [esˈtaðo ðe ˈmexiko]), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Mexico (Spanish: Estado Libre y Soberano de México), is one of the 31 states which, with the Federal District, comprise the 32 federal entities of Mexico. It is the most populous, as well as the densest populated.
