Kermanshah Province
Kermanshah/Kirmaşan Province (Persian: استان كرمانشاه), Kurdish: Provinsa Kurdmansan) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. The province was known from 1969 to 1986 as Kermanshahan and from 1986 to 1995 as Bakhtaran.
Kermanshah (Persian: کرمانشاه, Kirmānshāh; Kurdish: Kirmaşan: کرماشان also known as Bakhtaran, Bākhtarān, Kermānshāhān and Qahremānshahr), the capital of Kermanshah Province, is located 525 kilometres (326 miles) from Tehran in the western part of Iran. According to the 2011 census, its population is 851,405. People mostly speak Southern Kurdish.
