Birsa Munda Airport (IATA: IXR, ICAO: VERC) is a public domestic airport serving the city of Ranchi and is managed by Airports Authority of India. It is located in Hinoo locality, approximately 7 km (4.3 mi) from the centre of the city.It is the 27th busiest airport in India. Hatia Railway station is located at a distance of a kilometre from BMA. BMA used to be a small airport in terms of service, however with the growth of air traffic in India, BMA has also witnessed unprecedented growth in the last 3 years and several budget airlines have added it to their route. The airport recently got aerobridges in departure side. Hajj pilgrims from Bihar, Jharkhand annually go Jeddah from this airport. For this Air India arrange special flights in September to October daily. Airport is also trying to connect Bokaro, Jamshedpur by a regular bus service directly from airport. Frequent travellers using this airport can now avoid long queues at ticket counters by using its newly launched self-check-in kiosk.To get the boarding pass, a passenger has to feed in the PNR number into the system and select a seat of their choice from the seating chart.
