The Bhilai Institute of Technology (BIT) (Hindi: भिलाई प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान – दुर्ग) is the first self-financed engineering college in Central India. It was established in Durg in 1986, with four undergraduate courses in engineering (Bachelor of Engineering) and an intake capacity of 180 students. The institution has since grown to an intake strength of 780, and now offers undergraduate courses in seven disciplines of engineering, as well as postgraduate degrees, such as the Master of Computer Application degree and the Master of Business Administration. It is one of the premier most institutions in Central India and ranks among top 50 engineering institutions in India.
