Elgin Street is located in Central, Hong Kong. It was named after James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin. This is the same Lord Elgin who in 1860 in collaboration with the French General Montauban, strip mined (and destroyed) Yuan Ming Yuan in 1860 for its treasures and shipped to stolen loot back to Europe and the UK for distribution amongst Royal Houses , Universities and Museums .
