The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (often called the Aristotelian University or University of Thessaloniki) is among the oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions of Greece. It is the largest university in Greece and in the Balkans. It is named after the philosopher Aristotle, who was born in Stageira, about 55 km east of Thessaloniki.
