The Institute of Social Psychology at the London School of Economics, England was founded in 1964, is an independent department within the London School of Economics. Prior to 2009, it used to be located within the Department of Sociology. It has one of the largest concentrations of social psychologists in Europe with 11 members of staff. Work undertaken at the Institute strives to understand, through theoretical development and empirical research, the social processes that emerge at the intersection between the individual and wider societal contexts.
