The River Alre (also, occasionally, Arle) is a river in the English county of Hampshire. It is a tributary of the River Itchen, which it joins just downstream of the town of New Alresford. Previously the Itchen itself was referred to as the River Alre. Daniel Defoe mentions the river in his book A tour thro' the whole island of Great Britain.
