Originally known as Gatley for Cheadle, being renamed to Gatley on 6 May 1974, it serves Gatley, a commuter suburb in Stockport in Greater Manchester. The station is operated and served by Northern Rail. Their services from Manchester (Piccadilly) to Manchester Airport and Wilmslow stop here.
