The Edith Cavell Hospital in England, opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second on 20 May 1988, was situated on a greenfield site at Westwood in the city of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. The £20m hospital, built to complement services provided elsewhere in the city, was named after the Norfolk-born nurse and humanitarian, Edith Cavell, who received part of her education at Laurel Court in the Minster Precinct. It provided ENT, Orthopaedic surgery and Urology services, with five operating theatres, radiology, a breast imaging unit and angiography suite.
