New Cairo (Arabic: القاهرة الجديدة‎ el-Qāhera el-Gedīda) is a new city covering an area of about 30,000 hectares (70,000 acres) on the southeastern edge of Cairo governerate. As of 2015, the city is still under construction, and its population is rapidly growing.
