Point Leamington is a small community of about 620 people located north of Botwood and Grand Falls-Windsor. The town is located on the shores of Southwest Arm, New Bay. The area was first settled by loggers in the late 1800s, who came for the vast amount of timber in the area. Several sawmills were constructed, and over the years the town grew and developed around the logging industry. Over the past several decades logging in the area has drastically declined, and is no longer a way of life for the majority of people, however few still do fine employment in the small sawmill that is located outside the town.
