Gaborone (/ˌɡæbəˈroʊniː/ or /ˌxɑːbəˈroʊneɪ/; Tswana:  [χabʊˈrʊnɪ]; named after Chief Kgosi Gaborone) is the capital and largest city of Botswana with a population of 186,007 based on the 2001 census. It is the administrative capital of the South-East District as well as the sub-district of Gaborone.
