The Punjab (/ˈpʌndʒɑːb/ or /ˈpʌndʒæb/), also spelled Panjab, panj-āb, "five rivers" (Punjabi: ਪੰਜਾਬ (Gurumukhi); پنجاب (Shahmukhi); पंजाब (Devanagari)), is a geographical region in South Asia comprising vast areas of eastern Pakistan and northern India.
