Chernobyl or Chornobyl (IPA /tʃɜrˈnoʊbɨl/; Ukrainian: Чорнобиль, pronounced [tʃɔrˈnɔbɪlʲ]; Russian: Чернобыль, pronounced [tɕɪrˈnobɨlʲ], Polish Czarnobyl, Yiddish: טשערנאבל) is a city in the restricted Chernobyl Exclusion Zone situated in northern Kiev Oblast, Ukraine near the border with Belarus.
