Kirkenes  (Finnish: Kirkkoniemi, Kven: Kirkkoniemi, Northern Sami: Girkonjárga, Russian: Киркенес) is a town in Sør-Varanger Municipality in Finnmark county, in the far northeastern part of Norway. The town lies on a peninsula along the Bøkfjorden, an arm of the large Varangerfjorden.
