Thiruvananthapuram (IPA: [t̪iruʋənən̪t̪əpurəm]), also known as Trivandrum, is the capital of the Indian state of Kerala the largest and the most populous corporation in kerala and fifth largest Urban Agglomeration in Kerala.The Etymology of the city's name can be broken down in Malayalam as, Thiru (signification of respect)- Anantha-Puram (signifying, "Place of"). It is located on the west coast of India near the extreme south of the mainland. Referred to by Mahatma Gandhi as the "evergreen city of India", the city is characterised by its undulating terrain of low coastal hills and busy commercial alleys. The city with a population of 957,730 inhabitants is the largest in Kerala.
