Annobón (or Annabon, Anabon; from Ano Bom Portuguese for "good year"), also known as Pagalu or Pigalu, is an island of Equatorial Guinea. Part of the Cameroon Line archipelago, it is located in the South Atlantic Ocean at (1°25′S5°38′E), about 220 miles (350 km) west of Gabon and 110 miles (180 km) south west of São Tomé Island. It measures about 4 miles (6.4 km) long by 2 miles (3.2 km) wide (6.4 by 3.2 km), with an area of about 6¾ square miles (17.5 km²). In the 2013 census, it had 20,741 inhabitants, a significant population increase from the 5,008 registered at the time of the 2001 census.
