Wuzhishan (Chinese: 五指山; pinyin: Wǔzhǐshān) is a county-level city in the south-central part of Hainan, a province of the People's Republic of China. Although called a "city", Wuzhishan refers to a large land area in Hainan - an area which was once a county. Within this area is the main city, Wuzhishan City. It was originally called Tōngshí (Chinese: 通什) and is located beside Wuzhi Shan, the mountain. The city's total area is 1129 square kilometres, and its population is 115,000 people.
