East Central, Saskatchewan is a geographic region consisting of parkland, prairie, rolling hills and forest. Settled by English, French, Germans, Hungarians, Icelanders, Poles and Ukrainians in the late 19th century and early 20th century, makes this area very culturally diverse. Predating European settlement were the First Nation peoples; the Cree and Saulteaux. The city of Yorkton is the largest centre in the region which is located on the Yellowhead highway. There are many lakes to enjoy throughout the year such as Fishing Lake, Good Spirit Lake, Last Mountain Lake, Madge Lake and Wakaw Lake to name a few.
