Elk Mountain is a northernmost of the Medicine Bow Mountains. It is 7 miles (11 km) southwest of the town of Elk Mountain, Wyoming and roughly 38 miles (61 km) from Rawlins, Wyoming. The mountain is the area's most visible feature. It is located south of Interstate 80 in Carbon County.
