Competition is an unincorporated community in southern Laclede County, Missouri, United States. It is about seventeen miles southeast of Lebanon. Early on, it was known as Newburg, or "The Burg" as it was known to its residents. When the post office was established, the name was changed because a city named Newburg already existed in Phelps County, Missouri. Thus, the name was changed to Competition.
