Banton (formerly Jones) is a fifth class municipality in the province of Romblon, Philippines. Founded in 1622 during the Spanish colonial period, it is the oldest settlement in the province. However, the discovery of an ancient burial cloth, human remains, and other archeological finds by the National Museum in the 1930s show that the municipality is already inhabited by an advanced civilization during pre-colonial times.
