Monastiraki (English: Monastery) station is an interchange station on the Athens Metro, between Lines 1 and 3. The original surface station of Line 1 opened in May 17, 1895. It became an interchange point of the network when the underground station of Line 3 opened in April 22, 2003. It is located in the historic center of Athens, near the neighborhood of Plaka.
