The whole of the parish was historically the property of the De Morvilles, who were Constables of Scotland and Lords of Cunninghame. Nowadays Dreghorn operates as a fully functioning local village, with local shops such as butchers, bakehouses and a local post office. A new primary school has been built in the area.
