Lake Carey is a salt lake 80 kilometres (50 mi) south of Laverton, Western Australia within the Laverton Tectonic Zone, that has been associated with the presence of gold since the 1890s [1] and recently there has been renewed exploration drilling. Midas, the company who have sponsored the drilling, estimates that there may be 25 million ounces (780 tonnes) of gold [2] within the site.
