It is part of the Brownsville–Harlingen Metropolitan Statistical Area. Laureles is an area between Los Fresnos and San Benito, Texas. The main road is Farm Road 1575. Laureles had three small stores at one time, Ruiz's, Cookies, and Galarza's. Ruiz Grocery offered gas, snacks, food (including a butcher shop), ice and a tire shop.
