Carshalton (/kɑːˈʃɔːltən/[n 1]) is a suburb of London in the London Borough of Sutton, England. Part of Surrey until 1965,[n 2] it is located 9.9 miles (16.1 km) south-southwest of Charing Cross, situated in the valley of the River Wandle, one of the sources of which is Carshalton Ponds in the centre of the village. Sutton is centred 1.2 miles (1.9 km) west of the town centre of Carshalton.
