Baraut is a small city and municipal board in Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, India. Previously, Baraut was within Meerut district until Baghpat district was split off from Meerut. Baraut is an education hub for the villages around it. Baraut is a constituency in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly; and, by profession, this constituency consists mainly of traders, farmers, and industrial workers, Baraut being famous for producing wheels and axles, which are used all over India in motor vehicles. In terms of religion, the population consists of Hindus, Muslims, Jains, with a minority of Sikhs and Christians.
