Machilipatnam ( pronunciation ) is a city in Krishna district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It serves as the administrative headquarters for Machilipatnam mandal and Machilipatnam revenue division. It was the first trading settlement on the Bay of Bengal coast established by the British East India Company.
